Well it’s been almost one month since my move-in to Broderick Tower. Anyone else starting to feel at home? I know I am. I’ve added a few things to my “Things to love about Broderick” list since my last post:
For example, the security/valet team – I love how they always greet you, open doors and are willing to help. Also, the gym – it’s free and 24-hours! Sure it’s a little small, but it has the basics for a good workout. Fitness challenge anyone? Finally, the rubbish chutes. It sounds funny but the last apartment I lived in we had to haul our trash across the parking lot. These are super convenient!
The Broderick life is as exciting as ever and I’m looking forward to another great weekend in the D. Here are a few events happening this weekend that Broderick Tower residents won’t want to miss:
Gift & Give Shopping Night at Pewabic Pottery: If you haven’t made it to Detroit’s historic Pewabic Pottery yet, tonight (Thursday) is the perfect opportunity. They are hosting a holiday shopping night with 10% of sales benefiting the Children’s Hospital of Michigan Foundation’s Healing Arts Program. There will be warm beverages from Germack Coffee and pastries from Avalon. It runs from 6pm-9pm.
Happy Hour at The Dirty Trick: I’m excited to meet more of my neighbors at our first resident outing. Residents, if you haven’t heard we are heading across the street to the Dirty Trick tomorrow (Friday). From 5pm-8pm there will be $1 off drink specials and food. If you haven’t already, make sure you RSVP to Mandy! Check back next week for pictures.
Grand Circus Park Placemaking Workshop: We are lucky to have such an awesome view of Grand Circus Park from Broderick. But wouldn’t it be cool if______…well, you can finish that sentence however you’d like and share your ideas on how to enhance GCP at this community workshop hosted by D:hive. It’s happening Saturday from 10am-1pm.
Noel Night in Midtown: There are a lot of things I love about Detroit, but the annual Noel Night is one of my favorite events. This year is the 40th annual and promises to put even the biggest Grinch in the holiday spirit. From carriage rides to live music, to holiday shopping and so much more. Plus, more than 60 venues including the Detroit Historical Museum, the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Charles H. Wright Museum are offering FREE admission for everyone. It takes place Saturday from 5:00pm-9:30pm. Check out the full (13 page!) schedule of activities here.
Detroit Urban Craft Fair: If you’re like me and haven’t thought about your holiday shopping yet, a great place to start would be the Detroit Urban Craft Fair. More than 100 vendors are signed up to be there, and you can expect to find some awesome handmade gifts including jewelry, health/beauty products, accessories, home accents, clothing and more. And the best part? Admission is just $1.00. It runs from 10am-7pm this Saturday. Click here for more info.
What’s on your agenda for this weekend folks? Anything else Broderick residents should check out?
