New Year’s Eve in the D

As 2012 comes to a close, many Detroiters are shuffling to make plans for New Year’s Eve. The premium downtown location of Broderick Tower makes it easy to choose from many event options without having to worry about paying for a hotel, and safe transportation is just a cab ride away!

Here are just a few of the many New Year’s Eve events happening in Detroit. Keep in mind many of these events will sell out, so make your plans early and remember most are 21 and up.

Motor City NYE – The Drop: This event takes place at Compuware and Hard Rock Cafe. General access tickets ensure a 9 p.m. entry time, mixed cocktails and drinks until 1:30 a.m. and a premiere viewing spot to watch ‘The Drop’ at midnight. Tickets also include a midnight champagne toast with party favors and stationary hors d’oeuvres throughout the evening served by The Whitney. The party is hosted by Fox 2’s Anqunette Jamison. General access tickets are $100.

Resolution Ball 2012: Check out the Historic Fillmore Theater (formerly State Theater), just across the street from the Broderick for this event. Entry is at 9:30pm and tickets include main floor access, 5-Hour Party Pass Premium Bar Package, 9 drink tickets valid for premium cocktails or non-alcoholic beverages, Champagne Reception, Hearty Buffett & Midnight Festivities Blowout, Midnight Blast Including Korbel Champagne Toast & Party Favors at Midnight with a Coat Check Available. General NYE Party Pass Tickets are $95.

8th Annual “Rock the Boat” Motown Party: Set sail with the Detroit Princess and cruise into 2013 on the Detroit River. Enjoy music, dancing, a mouthwatering buffet and a midnight champagne toast. The buffet will feature crab stuffed salmon, prime rib, chicken piccata, vegetarian lasagna and much more. A cash bar is available and you’ll also enjoy a dazzling nighttime view of Detroit and Canada. Cruise tickets for this event are $75.

NYE at Fountain Bistro: Just a few blocks up Woodward from Broderick is the Fountain Bistro restaurant at Campus Martius. Check out Fountain Bistro on New Year’s Eve for a fine four course meal with seatings at 5pm, 7pm or 9pm., in addition to one of three drink packages. You’ll also get to watch the D drop from their patio in Campus Martius Park at Midnight. Tickets range from $25-$65.

Detroit’s own Motor City, MGM Grand and Greektown Casinos also are a great option for those looking for a dinner service, entertainment and dancing, too.
