Located just down the block from Detroit’s Grand Circus Park, the Bagley Bar is a great choice when it comes to finding a local sports bar with that good ol’ neighborhood feel.
Like many Broderick Tower residents, I pass by the historic Michigan Theater building often — but I never really stopped to notice the handful of storefronts now housed there next to the adjacent parking structure. One of those businesses is the Bagley Bar.
The Bagley is open for all home Detroit sporting events, events at Joe Louis Arena, Ford Field and Comerica Park, as well as private occasions. Its location on the corner of Bagley and Grand River makes it a pretty convenient stop for any of the above, whether you’re walking or catching the PeopleMover at Grand Circus.
I found the prices to be reasonable, service was great and the people there were just all around friendly. The Bagley offers your typical bar menu of burgers and appetizers, which you can pair with one of their Michigan beer offerings or just a classic draft on the cheap. I also hear they make a pretty good Bloody Mary. Oh, and another plus? They vow to never charge cover.
This weekend the Bagley will be opening its doors for Superbowl Sunday at 5 p.m. They’ll be serving up drink specials along with free sloppy joes all day long. That’s right, free sloppy joes. Don’t question it, just enjoy!
