Ok, so I can’t take credit for their awesome tagline. But I can tell you that Ghost Bar, located inside one of Detroit’s most historic dining establishments, is a great place to enjoy live music and classic cocktails.
Just a few miles up Woodward Avenue from Broderick Tower in Midtown Detroit, the Ghost Bar is located on the third floor of the historic Whitney building, which if you aren’t familiar is the former mansion of lumber baron David Whitney Jr. You can read about the impressive history of this building and its former owner on HistoricDetroit.
The Ghost Bar offers a cozy yet luxurious atmosphere. My friends and I dropped in on a Saturday evening and enjoyed live music (including an Adele mash-up, which I loved) and great, personal service from the bar staff.
Our classic cocktails were made to perfection with no detail overlooked, from the shaken-not-stirred martinis to the bitters used with old-fashioned style spirits. We were also able to sample a new cucumber martini being planned for the summer menu – yum! I’ll definitely be back for one of those.
With such an impressive atmosphere and stellar service, you might expect to rack up quite a tab here – but that’s not the case as our drinks were very affordable. Plus, if you’re really on a budget you can always check out Oyster Hour every Tuesday through Saturday with amazing drink specials from 5pm to 7pm.
Oh, and did I mention this place is haunted? Share your ghost stories with us in the comments!
