Summer is officially here and this weekend there are plenty of activities to enjoy along with the warm weather and sunshine. Here are a few events taking place this Weekend in the D.

GM RiverdaysThe GM Riverdays Festival returns to the beautiful Detroit RiverFront this weekend. The event will feature activities on land and water including tall ships, jet-ski demos, riverboat tours, live music, sand sculptures, kids activities, food, rides and much more. Admission is $3 during the day and $5 after 5pm with all proceeds benefiting the Detroit RiverFront Conservancy.

DMC Riverdays 5k Walk/Run: The Detroit Riverfront offers some spectacular views as a backdrop for this annual 5K Walk/Run, which takes place on Saturday at 9am. The event showcases the beauty of the Detroit RiverWalk and Milliken State Park while providing provide a healthy and fun experience for participants of all ages. Day-of registration is available at the cost of $30 and includes admission to the GM Riverdays Festival.

2nd Annual Detroit Summer Beer Fest: This event celebrating Craft Beer Month will feature over 60 breweries including some Detroit favorites such as Atwater and Motor City Brewing Works. With more than 200 beers available to taste, this event will have something for every taste. Tickets are $45 for general admission on either Friday or Saturday, or $70 for a two-day pass. Admission includes 25 3oz servings, with additional servings and food available for purchase.

Eastern Market “Come Hungry Leave Happy” Tour:  On Saturday from 9am-noon you can tag along as Delish Detroit strolls from shed to shed on this tour. You can visit specialty stores to learn about unique products and hear fun facts and history of the area while going behind the scenes and sampling various foods. Get to know local growers and vendors, their products, and some tips for improving your health with Michigan foods. Tours also include a visit to an art gallery located in a former brewery. Tickets are $29, but hurry the event is expected to sell out!

Ford Fireworks Presented by Target: The annual Detroit Fireworks are sure to be a great end to a great weekend. The show starts around 10pm on Monday, June 24. Many Broderick Tower residents will have an unmatched view of the gorgeous Detroit skyline as it’s lit up for this festive night. In addition, several local restaurants and bars such as Joe Muer are hosting special events, as well as of course the official VIP Rooftop Party on top of the Miller Parking Garage.
